EVALUATION CPIA 2025: IVORY COAST CONFIRMS ITS DYNAMIC IN ECONOMIC AND INSTITUTIONAL GOVERNANCE.

Abidjan, 09 October 2026 – From 3.9 in 2024 to 4.0 in 2025, this is the score made by Côte d’Ivoire as part of the Evaluation of Public Policy and Institutions (CPIA) 2025. This score ranks the country 2nd among the most successful African countries, behind Rwanda, and 1st in West Africa, thus confirming the momentum of the Ivorian authorities in terms of economic and institutional governance.

This economic performance, which enables Côte d’Ivoire to be ranked among the countries eligible for the International Development Association (IDA), is based on progress in four main areas, namely economic management, structural policies, social inclusion, equity and private sector management. Data on Côte d’Ivoire to be included in the annex to the report.

Marie-Chantal Uwanyiligira, Director of Division for Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Benin and Guinea at the World Bank, in a letter dated 11 June 2026, highlighted the country’s progress in several areas assessed under CPIA 2025.

According to the country’s economic management, fiscal consolidation efforts, the reduction of imbalances, the continuous improvement of fiscal performance and the soundness of debt management over the past three years are evident.

Similarly, significant progress has been made in structural policies, including financial stability, factor market regulation, land and labour. The fiscal and central administration, as well as the coordination of human resources management, have also achieved positive results.

However, in view of a few points of vigilance, the World Bank recommends that the Ivorian authorities pursue reforms in the areas of financing, effective measures to improve the business climate, labour standards and trade facilitation.

The World Bank also intends to support the Ivorian government in the dissemination of results through presentation sessions, while identifying the main projects to be pursued to consolidate the achievements and accelerate reforms.

With this score of 4.0, Côte d’Ivoire thus confirms the momentum in terms of economic and institutional governance, while identifying the main projects to be pursued in order to consolidate the achievements and accelerate the reforms.
